How to test your connection properly

Most people test their internet in the wrong way at the wrong time, get a reassuring number, and remain confused about why their television stutters. Do it like this instead:

Test in the evening, not the morning

Run the test at eight o'clock on a weekday, when your whole neighbourhood is streaming. That is the load your service will actually face. A perfect result at eleven in the morning is interesting but irrelevant.

Test on the device that matters

Do not test on a laptop next to the router and assume the Firestick behind the television gets the same. It does not. Test the device, in the room, where the problem occurs.

Test more than once
